Thinking of Germany 2013

The Trouble with Voting

The fifth conference was guided by the question "The Trouble with Voting: Will Elections Turn from the Centerpiece into a Relic of Democracy?" Once again, TRIAD Berlin developed the concept for the conference, provided strategic advice, and produced the event.

The 2013 edition of the conference focused on the increasing difficulty of clearly defining political camps. Insights from the field of neuroscience showed participants just how unconsciously people make decisions and choices. As a consequence, clarity starts to blur. The conference design reflected this aspect: Cloudy, blurred letters and structures invited participants to discover their meaning using 3D glasses. Only those who took a close look found out that they were looking at pairs of opposing terms that had been blended with each other.

Held in the middle of the 2013 Bundestag elections, the conference received a lot of attention. Numerous newspapers dedicated their editorials to the contents and topics of the top-level conference.
