At the event, an unprecedented constellation of participants discussed the most promising opportunities to help advance innovation in Germany. The Berlin Innovation Consensus was initiated by Deutsche Bank, Factory, Google, and Shell and was supported by a network of partnering organizations, including Ashoka, D21, and the initiative "MINT Zukunft schaffen" ("Creating a STEM Future").

The result of the conference – the "Consensus Charta", a list of the 10 most promising opportunities – was presented to politicians and the public.
