“Berlin Day” in New York

The sales exhibition „Destination: Berlin“ was opened at the design store of the world-famous Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). At the same time, the Berlin Day was to boost Berlin’s charismatic power as „City of Design“ further. To this end, Triad Berlin developed the “Suitcases from Berlin” exhibition, flanked by a campaign. This brought Berlin designers and creative heads to New York, helped them make new contracts and created an effective stage for the design metropolis in New York.

Exhibition and press event

As the ambassador for Berlin’s creative industry, the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, opened the “Suitcases from Berlin“ exhibition. 10 Berlin designers and creative heads presented one Rimowa suitcase each, which they had previously packed with their favourite design products from Berlin. The exhibition included suitcases packed by the likes of illustrator Olaf Hajek, DJ Paul van Dyk, the Gestalten publishing house, product designer Mykita and Zeha, fashion labels Bless and Kaviar Gauche as well as the band MIA. Within the setting of the suitcase exhibition, Triad Berlin threw a party following the vernissage, with invitations to artists, media representatives and dission-maker.

Website

The website www.iloveberlin.tv had been specifically developed in cooperation with Plazes.com as a multimedia support for the campaign and as a communication platform. It was devised for New Yorkers, Berliners and other interested parties around the world. Apart from news and background information regarding the participating designers and creative heads from Berlin, the website also included an interactive segment, providing an opportunity for New Yorkers to upload their statements about the metropolis on the river Spree.
