Hilti. Designed for Use.
On July 5th 2010, the red dot award: product design was granted in Essen. The design team of Hilti was awarded "design team of the year". Triad was assigned to design and conceive an exhibition at the red dot museum in the former Zeche Zollverein as well as the presentation of the award during the ceremony itself. In addition to the exhibition, Triad also arranged the award show on stage as an authentic construction site experience.
Construction Experience in the Aalto Theatre
The design of Hilti proves its quality particularly in the use of the tools. Triad created a brilliant stage show: A clear view of a large concrete cube of 2x2x2 m, which was formed by three workers with a Hilti demolition hammer, was presented after the announcement of the handover of the award to Hilti. There were real equipment, real muscles, real noise and real dust on display - and all that in the venerable Aalto Theatre. The workers broke a hole in the cube which glowed golden from the inside. Eventually one of the workers disrobed his overall and goggles – and turned out to be Mark Auerbach, Head of Design Concepts for Audi and presenter of the award. He grasped into the concrete cube, released the challenge cup "Radius" and began his laudation.
Exhibition "Designed for Use. Not Museums."
The focus of the exhibition is a central idea: Presented are rather gadgetry objects with heavy signs of use: "Used Heroes". They claim the right of Hilti to create a design that demonstrates its convenience especially in the usage: "Designed for Use. Not for Museums." The exhibition design presents itself as a process and visualize their origin – you can find a construction site in everything. Overall, the exhibition delivers the claim and preferences of the Hilti design focused and very authentic. After the exhibition ends, it will probably be shown at the headquarters of Hilti in Schaan / Liechtenstein. There, Triad has already realized the 1000sqm square Hilti Brand World in 2007.
