Berlin, 16 March 2009. Today, the winners of the 24h Berlin online video contest have been elected. The choice was not easy: more than 80 videos had been uploaded on
www.24hberlin.tv following 5 September 2008, the day of the 24h Berlin shot. All of them had to be rated. During the day of the TV shot, 80 professional camera teams had been shooting all over Berlin. On top of that, everyone in Berlin could participate in the “Berlin is in! Are you?“ campaign by shooting their personal video diary and uploading it on the website.
The video diaries were rated in two procedures, both by a jury of renowned experts and by users online.
The expert jury, consisting of Dieter Kosslick (Berlin International Film Festival), Volker Heise (zero one film), Dr. Claudia Nothelle (TV director at rbb Television), Dr. Hans Hege (mabb), and Robert Eysoldt (Triad Berlin), chose the following three videos as their favorites:
The first prize was awarded to the video “_frühstück” (breakfast), a spontaneous and fresh video about how life feels like in the Friedrichshain district. Dieter Kosslick (Berlin International Film Festival) calls the award winning video “a microcosm and mirror of our society. These friends manage to look to their future in passionate and amused, self-critical and engaged ways – always with a song on their lips.” The second prize was awarded to “Mein Berlin” (My Berlin), submitted by budding young TV hosts Meret and Moritz. “Rote Schuhe” (Red Shoes) was awarded the third prize for its presentation of Berlin’s everyday life from an unusual perspective.
The online user voting had a different but clear result. The favorite video online was “Mein Berlin” (My Berlin), leaving behind contenders with a decided lead of 915 votes. “Bergmannstraße” came in second with 700 votes. “Willkommen in Berlin“ (Welcome to Berlin), a video that shows well-known and hidden sites of the city from ever new perspectives, was voted third.
Among the prizes to be won were tickets for an open air concert organized by radioBerlin 88.8, tickets for shows at the GRIPS theatre and at the Radialsystem, tickets for the recording of the next Kurt Krömer Show for rbb Television, and various non-cash prizes by ARTE.
All video diaries that were submitted can be watched on
www.24hberlin.tv and will have the chance of becoming part of the 24-hour TV project to be broadcast on 5 September 2009 on rbb Television and ARTE.
The interactive module on
www.24hberlin.tv was made possible by the support of the Berlin-Brandenburg Media Authority (mabb).
24h Berlin is a project by zero one film, Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), ARTE, the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and Triad Berlin.
