Urban Planet

Commissioned by the Chinese organizing committee of the Shanghai World Expo 2010, the German company Triad has designed one of the main theme pavilions - the “Urban Planet.” Triad had won the international bidding for the 12,000 m² pavilion against more than 150 competitors. The “Urban Planet” pavilion addresses both the complex processes shaping the urbanization of our planet and global challenges that go along with it. The scenography combines traditions of Western narratives with motives taken from the Chinese Feng shui heritage. more »

Expo 2010: “Better City, Better Life”

On May 1st 2010, the largest world exposition of all times will open its doors. Under the overall motto “Better City, Better Life,” 240 countries and organizations, exhibiting in an area covering altogether 5.4 km², will be expecting a total of 70 million visitors. more »

Idea and Scenography

The exhibition depicts the interaction between the planet’s dramatic urbanization and the handling of its natural resources. In doing so, traditions of occidental dramaturgy are combined with motives from the Chinese Feng shui heritage. This Taoist philosophy describes the rules determining dynamic processes in the sphere of life. more »
